Exclusive Preview: President’s Day Weekend Showcases Riveting Documentary on Abraham Lincoln

History Channel is set to feature a three-part documentary centered around the life of Abraham Lincoln over President’s Day weekend. As part of a weekend of new premieres on History Channel, a new documentary centering around the life of Abraham Lincoln will be featured. The documentary simply will be titled “Abraham Lincoln”, and will star actor Graham Sibley as Lincoln himself. It is set to be a 3 part series, with each part debuting February 20, 21, and 22 respectively. Although there are plenty of shows, movies, and documentaries focused on Lincoln, this one, in particular, will be based around the accounts of Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book “Leadership: In Turbulent Times”. The documentary is not expected to focus on one part of President Lincoln’s life, but rather the rise of his career and life in general. There are sections devoted to the important events of his life from his childhood to his eventual assassination, with many significant moments sprinkled in between. The documentary will also feature interviews with guests from former President Barack Obama, General Stan McCrystal, and several noted historians. “(The documentary) offers viewers new and surprising insights into the man consistently ranked by historians and the American people as the country’s greatest president,” History Channel’s statement on the documentary reads. “Viewers will learn of the lesser-known aspects of Lincoln’s life and leadership through premium dramatic live-action scenes where his humility, empathy, resilience, ambition, political acumen, and humor are on full display.” Graham Sibley figures to be an important piece of the documentary and is a big pickup for History Channel. The actor has been featured on many popular TV shows such as Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy, so expect many people to recognize him in what will be one of his biggest tests as an actor yet. Excited for the role, Sibley stated that Lincoln’s “humanity, sense of purpose and ultimately his principled character provides for us a powerful example of how we might treat each other with dignity and respect if we are to become the nation that he imagined we could be.”
