Netflix’s plans for Roald Dahl have officially been launched with the teaser for “Matilda the Musical.” A small but much-awaited holiday pleasure. Everyone is waiting for this collaboration between Netflix and Sony to finally hit our screens.
After obtaining the license to the entire catalog of the renowned children’s author Roald Dahl last year, Netflix is all in. Now that “Matilda the Musical” has released its debut trailer, we can see how those goals will be realized.
Alisha Weir plays the title character in the live-action film, which stars the iconic Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull and Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey. This musical release is a key element of Netflix’s holiday entertainment.
With its adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical that transforms the iconic Roald Dahl book into a thrilling musical, Netflix’s new movie gives a unique take on the beloved book. A revolution is sparked by the film’s extensive look, which lifts the lid on its vast, beautiful, and musical passages.
The trailer stresses Matilda’s imagination and passion for fleeing reality through books as it starts off quite positively. It appears that she has finally found a place to escape the brutality of her family, who suppresses her inventiveness and enthusiasm for reading.
Thanks to her inspiring instructor Miss Honey in Crunchem Hall, who notices her intelligence. When the music becomes tense, it demonstrates how awful a jail the school is.
Emma Thompson has taken on the role of Miss Trunchbull almost too perfectly, as far as the trailer suggests. She perfectly portrays the abusiveness and cruelty of Miss Trunchbull and makes the character wonderfully sinister and creepy. I, for one, cannot wait to see her play the role that I’m certain she will ace!
When Matilda chooses to ignore her, she becomes very irritated. In one climactic, huge number that highlights the dangers and the incredibly gigantic scope of the movie. Matilda discovers she secretly possesses superpowered skills and utilizes them to organize a rebellion against the terrifying Trunchbull.
The Matilda narrative has previously been translated for the big screen, although with a few significant alterations in Danny DeVito’s popular 1996 movie, this teaser truly emphasizes the musical component of the film. It gives the version a feeling of seriousness to watch the kids tense and leering whilst singing about Crunchem’s mistreatment on the playgrounds or to observe the beautifully staged passages in the academy hallways or the canteen during the infamous cake sequence.
The critics responded well to “Matilda the Musical,” which recently debuted at the London Film Festival and received a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Netflix and Sony collaborated to produce “Matilda the Musical.”
The streaming giant is also developing a ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ themed series with Taika Waititi, the director of Thor, and Phil Johnston, the writer for “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Zootopia.” Although both of these ventures were in development before the acquisitions, Netflix claims that now it has the entirety of the collection.
This is only the beginning. Additionally, they are a vital strategy for fighting against Disney Plus, which already has a huge archive of family-friendly series and films. Netflix will begin streaming “Matilda the Musical” on December 25. It will also be available in certain cinemas starting December 9.
